Gang activity. A large group of kids beating up a kid. Friend called the cops. Cops didn't seem to care, nor did they respond to her call.

I can see that Mayor Rizzo's office assigned this to Mayor Rizzo's office, but, other than that, no response. What gives? Does anyone care that this poor girl could have been killed by the other kids?
NOT acceptable! Revere has long had a reputation for being a no-man's land for gangs, drugs, rape, lousy schools, and pretty much the rest of what ails modern society, particularly our youth. Already, we've seen dramatic surges in housing prices, new construction along the beach, new schools, and a signficant reduction in gang activity. Why stop here? There needs to be an actual response to this, both from the Mayor's office and the Revere Police Chief at this point!
Come on! Let's not abandon our kids and Revere, in general, now that things are _finally_ changing for the better!

Thank you for the update. Now, at least, we know that it's not a matter of the Revere Police "not caring", but rather that this was out of their jurisdiction.
Still, I think the Mayor's office could have taken a bit more interest/shown more concern about this young person being beaten up on Revere's beachfront.

I agree that the city needs to take more of an interest than merely posting responses like "Not our jurisdiction" or "Report these issues directly to the police department". True, both are valid statements. Revere Beach is a state beach and state park. And such complaints SHOULD be reported to the police. But they should ALSO be reported here, because SeeClickFix is the forum where the Mayor's Office and the City of Revere go to take the pulse of the population, to see what people--their constituents--are thinking and feeling.
It is sad that, apparently, the City of Revere/Mayor's Office still doesn't seem to take enough of an interest in these problems to actually approach both the City and State Police departments and say to them: There is gang activity on our beaches, one of the more beautiful beaches in all or New England. Why aren't you taking more steps to stop it?
After all, isn't it to the Mayor's Office of the City of Revere that the Revere Police ultimately owe their allegiance to? Isn't it through our town and city governments that the state learns of what its citizens need and what changes need to be put into place to make Massachusetts a better place to be?
Seriously, what is it going to take before someone does something? Another death? I would hate to see a repeat of what happened at the Showcase Cinema a few years ago. After nearly getting slammed pulling out of the driveway there after watching a show--and not for the first time--I reached out to my Ward Councillor and complained. I said "There needs to be a traffic light at that intersection". My councillor diligently pursued this concern with the City of Revere. The City of Revere came back with the response "Not our issue. Take it up with the State, as Route 60's a state road". The State didn't show any interest either. They said it was the responsibility of the theatre owner.
Four months later, someone's beloved child got killed when their car was T-boned coming out of the theatre driveway.
Now, there's a traffic light there. And a memorial marking that needless and unnecessary death, that has been there for two or three years--pretty much since that light got put in.
Now, we have a similar problem.
Gangs on the beach. Robbery at gunpoint. How many of our children will need to die before the City of Revere, in their infinite wisdom see fit to actually take some action and get involved?!
One has to wonder--Would they be more motivated if it had been the child of one of the city officials, perhaps even Mayor Rizzo himself, who had gotten the crap kicked and stomped out of her on Revere Beach?
